Single Leg
Position Details
The single leg takedown is one of wrestling's most fundamental techniques. By isolating and controlling one of your opponent's legs, you can off-balance and take them down.
Key Principles
- Level change and penetrate with a deep step
- Head position inside, on the chest, not outside
- Lock your hands around their thigh, knee tight to chest
- Finish by driving through or running the pipe
Concepts
- Level Change: You must change levels before shooting
- Penetration: Step deep to get your shoulder past their hip
- Head Position: Inside head position is safer and provides control
- Multiple Finishes: Learn several finishes as opponents will defend differently
