Outside Single

Position Details

The outside single attacks from the outside position, with your head on the outside of their leg. It's a safer entry that's harder to sprawl on.

Key Principles

  • Level change and shoot to the outside of their leg
  • Head stays on the outside, ear on their thigh
  • Control at the ankle and drive your head through
  • Finish by lifting and running them to the mat

Concepts

  • Safe Entry: Outside position makes sprawling difficult for them
  • Ankle Control: Control low, at the ankle, for this variation
  • Head Drive: Your head drives through to the inside to finish
  • Distance Takedown: Works well from further out than standard single
