Closed Guard

Closed guard is a fundamental position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where you are on your back with your legs wrapped around your opponent’s waist and your feet locked together. This position allows you to control your opponent's posture, limit their movement, and create opportunities for sweeps, submissions, and transitions.

The key to closed guard is maintaining tight control over your opponent’s upper body with your legs and grips. By pulling them close and breaking their posture, you can prevent them from initiating attacks while also setting up your own. With proper control, closed guard allows you to transition to other dominant positions, like sweeps to top position or submissions like the armbar or triangle choke.
